Morgan Middle School

Updates for Morgan Middle School regarding COVID 19 will be posted here.

Parents and students,

We hope you are all well and safe.  We want to inform you about some of the processes we have in place for the end of the year.

We would like to have students come in and clean out their lockers, PE, return books, return ChromeBooks and any other classroom items/books they may have.  We also have yearbooks to hand out.  We have a schedule that we will be asking you to follow to do these things. We still have yearbooks to purchase. You can buy them online or we will sell them until they run out. If you would like to buy one at the school, please bring a check or cash with exact change because we will not be handing change back.

We will be starting Monday, May 11 and going thru Thursday May 14.  You will come to the school depending on who you have for Advisory.

We must follow social distancing guidelines so we ask that you come at the allotted time.  We will have markers 6 feet apart and ask that if there is a line out of the building you stay in your car until there is a spot open.

Our custodians will be available to unlock lockers so you won’t need to remember your combination.  You may want to bring a bag to put your things from your locker in.

Students we would like you to complete all assignments for each class before you come in to the school.  Check your grades in Aspire…are you okay with the letter grade?  Would you rather your teacher give you a Pass/Incomplete grade? If you want the P/I you will need to let your teacher know.

We have a table with lost and found items on it.  Please check and if you see something that is yours take it with you.

Lastly, bring your phone/camaera.  We have a surprise picture opportunity waiting for you!

Thank you for your cooperation and patience with us thru all of this.

We Miss You!!

Here is another great resource for you and your family to help build resilience during these times. This comes from the Why Try model we have been using in our advisory classes.
We were also super excited to announce that we are offering access to our Parent Guide to Resilience for all of the families that you serve. This is a valuable tool to help offer guidance to parents on how to model resilience and encourage healthy together time with their kids based on the WhyTry model of resilience. Here’s a link to the guide: https://resilienceguide.org/

  • If you do not have access to the internet, please contact your teacher and they will supply a print copy. You will be able to pick it up in the office.
  • School lunch will be available for curbside pickup from 11:30-12:30. If daily school lunch is an essential part of your student’s nutrition, please call the school to make them aware.
  • Please return all school library books at your earliest convenience. There will be a drop box inside the front foyer of the school.
  • If your family does not have access to a computer, please call our office to set up a time to come in and check one out. There is a form you will fill out and the district has asked that only one chromebook be allowed per household.

How to connect your borrowed chromebook to Wi-Fi

Teacher Online Platforms – Look here to see how to access your student’s online homework. The students should know the log in for Google classroom and Canvas. Please use the Canvas link on the left side of this page. It must be the Morgan School District Canvas link. If your student does not know their login, please call the school. Canvas login is username:lunch number, password: lunch number, last name. The password has no spaces or punctuation between the student number and last name.

NUES online library Students will use their morganst login and password to access this online library.

Here are some great resources for you to share with your family during this time. If you have children struggling with mental health these are some great tools to help them. If they need to talk to their school counselor, you can reach me at 801-829-3467 during the hours of 8:00-1:30 or email me at kachristiansen@morgansd.org. If they are currently working with a counselor or therapist, I would encourage you to continue to meet with them.
This is a great time to reconnect as a family. Taking care of yourself is important and eating a balanced diet, staying hydrated, and getting enough sleep will help you during this time.
Remember, stressing about things we cannot control doesn’t help us. Being mindful and being in the present, focusing on what you can control will get you through this. Remember to Breathe.

Parents, some of you may have noticed that the email links through Aspire or this website don’t always work. Please use your personal email and enter the teachers email if you want to correspond with them.
