Dear Parents:
A suspicious circumstance was reported to the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department this morning involving a grey, white, or silver van or SUV.  This incident happened on the corner of 300 West and Larkspur Lane in Morgan and involved children waiting for the Morgan Elementary bus.  The driver of the van took one or more pictures of the group after rolling down his window and calling, “hey kids.”  The driver is described as an adult male with a grey pony tail and grey beard.  No student has been harmed and the purpose of this letter is to inform you of this incident so we can be vigilant and avoid a repeat of such an occurrence.  This event also reminds us that all children should know how to handle this type of situation. 
This month Mountain Green Elementary School hosted “Boots and Bunker,” an assembly provided by the Ogden City Fire Department.  As part of this assembly students are reminded how to handle this very situation; a stranger at the bus stop.  We hope this assembly will help our students if an incident like this happens in the Mountain Green Area.
Today’s incident reminds us how important it is that children are aware of their own personal safety.  At this time, please remind your child to take specific precautions including traveling in groups as they walk to or from the bus stop or school.  If approached by a stranger, it is advised that all children escape the situation by any means necessary including screaming, biting, punching, and kicking.  Students are then advised to immediately report the situation to an adult.
The Morgan County Sheriff’s Department has asked that anyone seeing suspicious activity involving a van matching this description immediately call 911.  The police dispatch will try to obtain a detailed description of both the driver and the vehicle.  Unique and identifiable information such as a license plate number is very valuable information.

*Book Exchange: Don't forget to check your bookshelves for the book exchange. Donation boxes are in all 4 pods, office, and library. The goal is to collect 1,000 books so each student can pick two books at Moms and Muffins on Friday, March 2.
